About Lee Alloway
Lee Alloway is a writer and photographer based in Northern Virginia. He started taking pictures at age six and within two years was developing his film in a makeshift darkroom. He carried his camera with him around the world throughout his childhood and busy career, capturing images of the commonplace and the out-of-place. His interest in birds and bugs has taken him from Galapagos to Kenya, with stops in Central and South American jungles along the way. His pictures have appeared in newspapers, newsletters, web sites and other publications, and frequently form the basis for illustrations in his own books of poetry and children’s verse. He is currently Author in Residence at Ancient Eagle Press.

Thank you all. For 14-years this nest box was home to chickadees and the occasional wren; for two days post-hurricane it provided shelter for a flying squirrel. The visit was brief, but the memory is lasting.
